 About Us (SIVHO)

The Singiro Village Hope for Orphans (SVHO) Strategic Development Plan 2026-2031 provides a comprehensive framework for sustainable transformation in the Masaka Sub-Region of Central Uganda, particularly in Lwengo and neighboring districts. The sub-region faces entrenched socio-economic challenges, including poverty, subsistence farming with low productivity, land fragmentation, climate change impacts, youth unemployment, food insecurity, limited access to quality education and healthcare, weak water and sanitation infrastructure, high HIV/AIDS prevalence, and gender inequalities. Orphans, vulnerable children, women, youth, and persons with disabilities are disproportionately affected, requiring an integrated and holistic development approach.

Over the five-year period (2026-2031), SVHO aims to reach 100% of the vulnerable population in the Masaka Sub-Region, estimated at 21,000 people, through coordinated humanitarian and development interventions with a projected investment of UGX 4.5 billion. The plan is guided by principles of inclusivity, resilience, social justice, and compassion, focusing on building sustainable livelihoods, human capital, and community systems capable of long-term development.

Key programmatic priorities include:

  1. Food and Nutrition Security & Sustainable Agriculture: Training households in climate-smart and sustainable farming practices, promoting value addition in agricultural products, and ensuring sufficient food for household consumption.

  2. Youth and Women Empowerment: Providing hands-on vocational training, digital literacy, business skills, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion to equip youth and women with the skills to generate income and participate meaningfully in local economies.

  3. Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention: Implementing targeted interventions for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and psychosocial support, alongside broader community health services.

  4. Education & School Sponsorship: Supporting school enrolment, retention, and completion for orphans and vulnerable children through scholarships, mentorship, and compassion-based interventions that address barriers to learning.

  5. Environmental Justice: Promoting environmental conservation, sustainable resource management, and awareness-raising to mitigate the effects of climate change and protect community natural resources.

  6. Social Inclusion and Community Development: Strengthening governance, mobilizing community and faith leaders, and engaging Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to champion gender equality, social cohesion, and prevention of gender-based violence.

SVHO targets 60% women, 35% youth, and 5% persons with disabilities, ensuring equity and inclusivity in all interventions. Specific planned outputs include training thousands of farmers in sustainable and climate-smart agriculture, equipping youth with digital, business, and life skills, facilitating access to financial services, supporting women entrepreneurs with microloans, reintegrating school-age children into education, linking patients to specialized medical services, training boda-boda riders in road safety and first aid, and engaging faith and community leaders as agents of social change.

The Strategic Plan is supported by a robust resource mobilization strategy to diversify income streams and a partnership framework that strengthens collaboration with the Government of Uganda, development partners, civil society, and private sector actors. SVHO is guided by the principle that empowering communities with knowledge, skills, and resources, combined with compassionate support, fosters sustainable wellbeing, resilience, and long-term prosperity. Through organized, participatory, and multi-sectoral interventions, SVHO is committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable populations across the Masaka Sub-Region, ensuring dignity, opportunity, and social justice for all.
